Yesterday evening, me and a group of CIEE students attended the play Brothers in Blood at Artscape theatre. The performance that we saw left me on the edge of my seat, daydreaming about what I had just seen. This play was not just about a clash of religion but race as well. It reminded me of the movie crash but dealing more with religious relations and connections instead of just race. The play dealt with three main characters who were muslim, a father, a daughter, and the daughters secret boyfriend. There was also a christian man who preached love and didn't show it, and a jewish man, who was on neighborhood watch and accused a muslim man of being involved in a bombing in town that killed his young son. The man was accused most likely because he was Muslim. This play drew on the fact that there were three fathers all of different religious backgrounds but both dealing with their own personal family difficulties which ended up intertwining all of the characters in some way. I left thinking more curiously about the lives of others and how important it is to never assume anything about anyone, stories are much deeper than skin color, clothing, and religious affiliation. It was a beautifully done play and I have included the link to further describe the play. Sorry these past blog posts haven't been well written or formulated, school has taken over and I haven't had much time to update my blog. Sorry guys! Posts about my Spring break trip are to come! Remember to always live in love....
